Benefits

  • Removes dead skin cells and stimulates cell renewal
  • Helps visibly reduce fine lines and imperfections
  • Reduces dullness and superficial discoloration
  • Removes leftover impurities and restores the skin’s pH balance after cleansing

How to use

Step 2.5: Exfoliate

After cleansing, apply a small amount of toner to a cotton pad and gently sweep over the face and neck. Do not rinse.

This product exfoliates and tones the skin in one step.

Beginner:
Start slowly with glycolic acid (AHA) and use it 1 to 3 times per week in the evening. This gives your skin time to adjust and helps prevent irritation or over-exfoliation.

Advanced:
Is your skin responding well after 3 to 4 weeks? Then gradually increase usage to 3 to 5 times per week.

On the other days, use gentle, hydrating products to support your skin.

Never use multiple AHA products on the same day. Avoid combining AHA with other active ingredients such as BHAs, retinol, or vitamin C in the same routine. Instead, alternate these on different days to avoid overloading the skin.

AHA increases sun sensitivity, so apply a SPF 30 or higher daily, even on cloudy days.

If you experience redness or irritation:
Reduce frequency or pause use and opt for calming skincare.

When not to use

When to Avoid Using Glycolic Acid:

  • If you have sensitive or easily irritated skin
  • If you suffer from rosacea, eczema, or couperose
  • If you have active skin damage such as wounds or sunburn
  • If your skin barrier is compromised or weakened
  • If you are hypersensitive to AHAs or other acids
  • During pregnancy or breastfeeding (especially with high concentrations – consult your doctor)
  • During or shortly after intensive treatments such as chemical peels or microneedling
  • When using other exfoliants such as retinol, BHA, or vitamin C
  • When exposed to intense sunlight without daily SPF protection
  • During or shortly after a course of Roaccutane (isotretinoin)

FAQ

Can I use the AHA Toner every day?
Start gently with glycolic acid and use it one to three times a week in the evening. This gives your skin time to adjust and helps prevent irritation or over exfoliation. If your skin reacts well after three to four weeks, you can increase to three to five times per week. Always remember to apply SPF during the day.

When should I choose the Rose, Calendula, or AHA Toner?
Rose Toner: hydrates and softens – ideal for dry or normal skin

Calendula Toner: calms and restores – best for sensitive or troubled skin

AHA Toner: exfoliates, refines, and evens out – great for dull, dry, or mature skin

What are the benefits of using AHA?
AHA helps reduce dullness, fine lines, and dark spots. It also improves the texture of the skin.

Can I combine the AHA Toner with other active ingredients?
It is best not to use AHA at the same time as BHA, vitamin C, retinol, or other strong acids. Alternate between products to avoid skin irritation.

What is the difference between AHA and BHA?
AHA, such as glycolic acid, works on the surface of the skin and is ideal for dull skin tone, fine lines, and dark spots.

BHA, such as salicylic acid, penetrates deeper into the pores and is perfect for oily skin, blemishes, and blackheads.

Radiant skin with AHA: discover glycolic acid

Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) derived from sugarcane. It is known for its exfoliating effect on the skin’s surface. It removes dead skin cells, stimulates cell turnover and promotes a smoother, fresher and more even-looking complexion.

Thanks to its small molecular size, glycolic acid penetrates the skin quickly and is especially effective for dull, dry or aging skin. It helps visibly reduce fine lines, dark spots and rough texture, while prepping the skin for better absorption of other skincare products.

Why choose the AHA Exfoliating Toner?

The AHA Exfoliating Toner by RevitalTrax is designed to exfoliate and tone the skin in one gentle yet effective step.

The importance of a toner combined with AHA

A toner is an essential step between cleansing and treating your skin. It removes the last traces of dirt, makeup or minerals from tap water, restores the skin’s natural pH balance and prepares the skin to better absorb active ingredients from serums and creams.

When combined with AHA, the toner also exfoliates the skin’s surface, removes dead skin cells and stimulates cell renewal.

Key ingredients in the AHA Exfoliating Toner

Did you know?

  • Unlike BHAs, AHAs do not penetrate the pores but instead remove dead skin cells from the surface for a smoother, fresher-looking complexion.
  • Glycolic acid is the most well-known AHA. It has the smallest molecular size of all AHAs, which makes it fast and effective.
  • Because AHAs temporarily increase your skin’s sensitivity to sunlight, daily sun protection is essential.
  • Omdat AHA’s de huid tijdelijk gevoeliger maken voor zonlicht, is dagelijkse zonbescherming onmisbaar.
